TTDI good guys making amends, supporting fund for Nepali worker’s family - ( M4L4YS14 )

In an attempt to atone for the insensitive remarks made by some over the suicide of a Nepali worker in their affluent neighbourhood less than a week ago, Taman Tun Dr Ismail (TTDI) residents are attempting to help his family with donations.

As of 10am today, RM850 had been collected for the family of Padam Bahadur Sunar, with RM3,660 pledged by other donors.

Amir Rizwan, who initiated the donation drive, said, “I expect that donors who have pledged the RM3,660 will make the transfer by Tuesday at the latest.”  He has set a target of RM4,000.

“The majority of the donors are TTDI residents. There was also a donation pledge made by a Malaysian who is working abroad,” he told The Malaysian Insider.

Amir launched the drive after reading comments made by readers of The Malaysian Insider.

He is one of those who was unhappy with the behaviour of some residents who witnessed the suicide and then posted details on Facebook.

One appalled resident wrote a letter lamenting the lack of compassion and indifference they showed.

Amir said Tenaganita, a non-government organisation dedicated to protecting and promoting the rights of women, migrants and refugees, was helping to locate Padam’s family.

To donate, internet users can either visit the TTDI Facebook page or Quickcauses.com, where the donation campaign is highlighted. The user can login using his Facebook account and make a pledge.

Quickcauses will then send an email to the donor’s email account together with an account number so that the money can be transferred. – September 16, 2013.
